Specifications before slogans
We start with steel type, published hardness, dimensions, weight, tang construction, edge geometry and handle material. When a figure comes from a manufacturer, we label it as manufacturer-stated. A trademarked process name is a claim to investigate, not an engineering standard.
Evidence labels
We distinguish first-hand handling, controlled tests, manufacturer demonstrations and analysis of published information. We do not convert a sales demonstration into our test, and we do not imply that photography proves performance.
Tool choice before product choice
We first ask whether a machete is appropriate. A folding saw is often the honest answer for branch cutting. An axe is the proper choice for splitting. Recommending no purchase, or a cheaper and simpler tool, is a valid conclusion.
Commercial relationships
Affiliate relationships are disclosed near the relevant recommendation and before an outbound commercial link. Compensation does not turn a maker's claim into evidence or remove a product's limitations.
Corrections and review dates
Guide pages carry a last-reviewed date. We revise material when specifications, offer terms or reliable source information changes. Contact us at contact@bestmachete.com if you find a factual error.
